Level 2 NVQ in Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance

This qualification is aimed at those students wishing to progress their future career in the gas maintenance industry. Learners will gain more knowledge of the industry and build the skills required to start a career in this industry.

Entry Requirements

In order to be accepted on this course candidates must have five GCSEs grades A* to C which must include Maths and English or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

What areas are covered by the course?

  • Maintaining a safe working environment for all natural gas related work
  • Establishing, maintaining and developing effective working relationships with others for all natural gas related work
  • Applying gas safety measures to domestic natural gas related work activities

Additional optional units will be chosen depending upon the occupational route taken by the student.

How is the course taught?

The course is taught via a range of practical activities in the workshop which are supported by theory sessions in the classroom. Learners are required to complete assignments and practical activities throughout the year whilst collecting evidence for a portfolio. There are also mandatory Functional Skills (English and Maths) Units.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed in a variety of ways. Multiple choice online tests will assess knowledge and understanding. Time based practical activities throughout the year, as well as a number of graded assignments.

Progression/Career opportunities

Completion of this qualification provides learners with the opportunity to progress to an Apprenticeship or Advanced Apprenticeship, other construction options or move into employment in the industry.
