Level 3 NVQ in Domestic Natural Gas Installation and Maintenance
This qualification is aimed at those students wishing to progress their future careers in the gas maintenance industry. The course will provide you with the skills and experience you need to install and maintain gas systems safely in people’s homes. This qualification must be completed via the Apprenticeship route.
Entry requirements
In order to be accepted on this course candidates must have five GCSEs grades A* to C which must include Maths and English or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. They must also have successfully completed a Level 2 in Natural Domestic Gas Installation and Maintenance.
What areas are covered by the course?
Students must complete nine core units:
- Design natural gas systems
- Specify programmes for working on natural gas systems and components
- Plan the work activities for natural gas systems and components
- Commission and decommission natural gas systems
- Maintain a safe working environment for all natural gas related work
- Establish, maintain and develop effective working relationships with others for all natural gas related work
- Contribute to the improvement of business products and services for natural gas related work
- Apply gas safety measures to domestic natural gas related work activities
- Install complex natural gas systems and components
How is the course taught?
Students are expected to have a placement to successfully complete this course.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed in a variety of ways. Multiple choice online tests will assess knowledge and understanding. Time based practical activities throughout the year, as well as a number of graded assignments. You will also be assessed in the workplace.
