Level 2 Diploma in Gas Utilisation

This qualification focuses on practical skills and knowledge. This ensures that when the learner completes the qualification they will have gained practical experience and some expectation of some of the situations that they could face in their future job roles within the gas sector.

Entry Requirements
In order to be accepted on this course candidates must have four GCSEs grades A* to C which must include Maths and English or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English.

What areas are covered by the course?
This qualification covers a wide range of subjects required by someone aspiring to work in the gas maintenance industry and includes:

  •  - Understanding health and safety in a building services environment
  •  - Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering (BSE)
  •  - Understand scientific principles within gas utilisation
  •  - Understand and apply pipework fabrication processes and techniques used for gas utilisation
  •  - Understand how to apply environmental measures within BSE
  •  - Understand core gas safety principles within gas utilisation
  •  - Understand and apply domestic central heating system installation and maintenance techniques
  •  - Understand electrical systems within building services engineering

    How is the course taught?
    The course is taught via a range of practical activities in the workshop which are supported by theory sessions in the classroom.

    How is the course assessed?
    The course is assessed by written and practical assignments and online exams.

    One year.

    Progression / Career opportunities
    Following successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma students can progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Gas Utilisation.
