City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Engineering

Engineering is one of the most exciting, in-demand career routes out there. Despite a boom in popularity, there's still a serious shortfall in qualified engineers, meaning there's huge amounts of opportunities for young people with engineering qualifications to do well.

If you're brand new to the engineering industry without any previous experience, the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Engineering course is an ideal starting point.

This course is aimed at students who intend to follow Intermediate and Advanced Modern apprenticeship programmes.

About The Technical Academy

This course is taught at The Technical Academy, East Durham College's specialist construction and engineering facility, located on the South West Industrial Estate in Peterlee.

Our engineering suite includes top-of-the-range equipment, including a full suite of milling machines and laithes, as well as extensive workshops and classroom areas for both practical and theory work during your engineering course.

When Does The Course Start?

This course starts every September, and is a full-time programme.

Fees:

If you're a full time student under the age of 19 you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

If you are aged 19-23 years old you may be required to pay fees for your course, however if you do not already have a level 1 qualification, or you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group, your fees may be paid by the Government.

If you are aged 24 or over you may be required to pay fees for your course, however if you are in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance in the Work Related Activity Group, your fees may be paid by the Government.
